What to say of India? This place that I felt pulled towards from a young age. A place that was spiritually vital to my father. We used to talk about how we would visit together but life moves in mysterious ways and my dad passed away before we could make that trip. It was with a lot of gratitude that my neighbor at the Do Ngak Kunphen Ling Tibetan Buddhist Center for Universal Peace invited my husband and I to visit the Tibetan Monastery, Sera Mey, in Bylakuppe, India. On the anniversary of my dads passing I had a chance encounter with a monk who told me that the reason I am drawn to Buddhism is because I lived in the Himalayas in a past life. When you travel, sometimes you have this rare moment of knowing. A remembering, a reminder of who you are and why you are alive. I have titled this project ‘Daily Remembrances’, for the feeling I had while in India. Like a part of my soul was being reflected back at me. Like a memory come alive. Like a remembrance.
